Hi, I’m Kat and I enjoy long walks on the beach, red wine, books and happy hour. Would you believe it if I told you that I came to the United States not speaking a word of English? I knew instantly that I would need to make friends fast, and it is for that reason only, that I began practicing my English.
Let me back track, I immigrated to the US from Ukraine when I was 12 years old. Ever since then, I’ve searched for people, places, and things that make me feel at home. Throughout the last 17 years, I’ve been pretty lucky to have met some incredible people and experience some incredible things. I managed to get 2 degrees, land a pretty cool full-time gig, and have a lot of fun along the way. I have a knack for keeping myself busy, and I would say I am pretty good at it. Whether it be travel, social engagements, community networking, etc., I always have time for a new experience. I strongly believe that life is better when you learn to grow from the things that others teach you.
That is how I found myself at Hopscotch. I was, once again, looking for a place to remind me of home: warm, cozy, small and vibrant. I was pretty sure that if I spent enough time there, I would manage to squeeze myself into a job or at least make a friend or two. Low and behold, through much Instagram stalking, I was interviewing for the Wedding Coordinator position.
So, here I am. I spend as much time as I can at the Hop because it has truly felt like home. The people, more than anything, have become some of the greatest friends that I’ve had. If you’re like me, searching for your own piece of home, come on in and let us serve you a cup of coffee and a yummy treat. And if you ever see me huddled in a corner with my laptop, come say hello. I can use another friend, or two.
